Birmingham Silverware Company
SILVER TEA SET COMPLETE 6 PIECE ANTIQUE SILVER PLATE VICTORIAN TEA SERVICE!! Pattern: BIM1 (SILVERPLATE,HOLLOWWARE) by BIRMINGHAM SILVER CO, Holloware, Silverplate [BIMBIM1]
YOU ARE BIDDING ON A PREMIUM FULL SILVERPLATED TEA AND COFFEE SET THAT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN IN MY FAMILY FOR SEVERAL GENERATIONS!!THIS SET IS SIMPLY VICTORIAN BLISS WITH IT'S BREATHTAKING DETAILS!! Identified by the production company's Mark in hallmarks BSC with a Crown & Letter " R " dating; This Set is attributed to THE BIRMINGHAM SILVER COMPANY Of Yaleville, Connecticut... The Birmingham Silver Company's productions have always been of the upmost High Quality! After All the Research I did on this Company, I have found almost the Identical Set at an online antique dealer and she has hers listed as Birmingham but she also makes Note of The Goldfeder Silverware Company... The Birmingham Silver Company Was Associated with the Goldfeder Silverware Compancy, Inc. of of Brooklyn, New York which was established in 1932 by Sol Goldfeder as manufacturers of Sterling Silver and Silverplate. The firm was succeeded by the Birmingham Silver Company and operations were shifted to Yaleville, Connecticut. Birminham Silver Company has been in Existance for a LOT Longer before their partnership with Goldfeder...c 1932 , And I Believe This Particular Set Comes from a Time Era Previous to the Goldfeder days... I have Found MANY Date Charts (Marking Identification Charts) for Birmingham... The Mark is a BSC with a Crown & I looked at the Date identification charts for Birmingham and this Could Possibly date back to 1785 going by the "R" on it (Birmingham uses Letters to identify the year and the Coffee Pot has a distinct R on the bottom... It says " R on Copper " under that "BSC" and then under that "REG"... Since Birmingham uses Letters to Date Items I am left to assume that " R" dates this item... "on copper" tells us that this Had to Be PRE-1940 as Birmingham Silver Company with the silver on copper mark; stopped manufacturing silver on copper for newer methods at the end of the 1940's thus nothing after 40's would have that... As for the "REG" I have Not found What that could stand for... The silver on copper sets are also quite a bit heavier than the sets made later. Just a fun note for antiques ~ Royalty use to Love silver on copper as it was a sign of a very High Quality Piece!! In My Research I have Read from Collectors That These older BSC sets with the Grapes on the finials with the tea pot, coffee pot, sugar bowl with lid, creamer & waste bowl are becoming more and more difficult to get!!! (Don't Miss Your Opportunity to Get The Complete Set Now!!:)
I Wish I could tell you for certain the history of this piece, but this is the Best I could find!! (And I Have Done My Fair Share of Research!!! As it is I have Already had to change my info for the third time as I had first thought (going by others) that the BSC Stood for Bixby Silver Co. which existed just a brief time from 1896 to 1909 (That would've made it easier to date!) And Prior to that, I thought that it may have been Gorham From When they partnered with Black, Starr & Frost, Making the Label Black, Starr & Gorham... After MUCH Research I have Determined that this Service is Indeed fr...
