This is an antique 1/6 plate daguerreotype of a baby on a mother's lap in a case. The mother looks rather sad or scared and sometimes you can't tell if it is a post mortem picture. The case is 3 5/8" by 3 1/8" and is split at the spine which can be repaired and closes with a hook in the front. It is also a little warped and worn. The daguerreotype itself has a glass over the whole thing and it looks like a lot of fibers and dirt under the glass. It can be cleaned but should be done by someone who knows what he is doing so as to not wreck the image. A little shoe polish would clean up the case. Because of the mirror effect it was hard to get a good photograph of it. Please look at the pictures and ask questions. Thank you for viewing. U.S. SALES ONLY.
