Antique 9K GOLD & GF BOOKCHAIN Locket Garnet NECKLACE Click Photos to Enlarge Description PLEASE Scroll down to view all of the images, and Please take the time to READ our description. This auction is for an Antique Victorian BOOKCHAIN Necklace that is detailed with GARNETS and t is a LOCKET pendant on this item as well. This item was recently purchased from an estate. This item is made from BOTH 9K SOLID GOLD and Gold Filled Areas --It is not unusual for Jewelry from this era (late 1800's) to be made from both solid gold and gold filled sections. This Necklace measures about 14 3/4"-15" or so around the 'necklace' section of this item, and the front drop section measures about 1 5/8" or so tall from the bottom of the locket to the top of the valley in the V form that the garnets are in. the locket itself is about 3/4" tall x just over 1/2" or so wide at the largest points. the bookchain is about 1/8" wide (about 4mm wide x 1.3mm or so 'thick') The red stones have been TESTED and they test to be Garnets. The garnets measure 4.1mm, 4.3mm and 4.8mm in diameter. These are Natural Garnets. The Necklace has a push tab catch that attaches on one side of the 'V' Shape in the front of the necklace...see images The metal is not marked that I can locate, but it has been carefully TESTED. The Bookchain Necklace tests to be about 9K SOLID GOLD. The ornamental ends of the chain that attach the chain to the V section are Gold filled. The V section that the garnets are set in is also Gold Filled. The locket is also made from BOTH 9K solid GOLD and Gold filled areas. The flat sides of the locket test to be 9K solid GOLD. The edges and loops etc. on the locket are Gold Filled. The locket hooks to the main necklace with a catch that is marked 10K (indicating it is 10K solid gold) This catch is a later replacement. The V section has loops on it that also appear to be later replacements (they appear o be nickel silver), the tab for the catch also appears as though it might be a nickel silver replacement...see images. This locket has one image inside --no bezels etc...see images. This entire necklace weighs about 12.0 grams This item is in good vintage condition, with some signs of age/wear and use. Please see images to get a closer look at this items condition. The garnets are in good condition, with no dings/chips etc. that I can locate. T are some scuffs/scratches and minor imperfections etc. as you expect to find on Antique Jewelry items. The Gold sections seem to be in good condition, with some small scratches/tiny imperfections/signs of age/wear t are some small dings/dimples on the locket in some areas, and some scratches /dings etc. on the chain....see images. The gold filled sections show some wear to the gold layer in some areas --and as mentioned the 3 loops and catch on the V section appear to be replacements....and the catch that attaches the locket to the main necklace also appears to be a replacement (though this catch is 10K gold) All in all , this is a wonderful 9K solid gold and gold filled Victorian Bookchain GARNET Necklace with a locket....and for its age, it is in decent condition.
