This is a beautiful sterling silver serving piece. The pattern is called "Bridal Rose" and it is from the Alvin Sterling Company. T is an intricate design on the serving part but with much wear. We are a bit confused on this serving piece for it appears to have a place for the thumb to rest (or to give it more stability) when one is serving - it has a cutout and we do not know if it came that way or if someone customized it through the years. Also by the top rose (on the handle) it almost looks like a small cutout on each side but it could have been manufactured that way. This nice heavy piece of sterling does have a lot of wear but that is expected for its age and the amount of use that it got. It is 5.7 ounces of sterling. It measures approximately 12" long and 2 1/2" at its widest. Great unusual piece for your silver collection.
