You are bidding on a Wonderful Antique American Trio of Samplers from three members of the Stebbins Family. The first two samplers made by sisters, Betsy and Pama in the late 18th century from Springfield, Massachusetts. The third sampler stitched in the early 19th century by Pama's daughter, Elizabeth B Champion. Betsy's Charming marking sampler includes an uppercase alphabet, a number line and a lowercase alphabet separated by simple stitch bands. Betsy then stitched her signature at the bottom. It reads: Betsy Stebbins.s Samplar 1789 S This small sampler is then enclosed by three simple stitch borders. Betsy's sampler measures 8 inches height by 7 inches wide sight, and 9 1/2 H X 8 1/2 W in it's new figured wood frame with gold liner. Pama has also stitched a charming little marking sampler, but not quite finished it. Pama has stitched her uppercase alphabet and her number line but only got to the letter o on her lowercase alphabet. She did stitch most of her name: Pama Stebbi before she ran out of room on the line. Pama did separate each line, finished and unfinshed lines with simple stitch bands in gold. Pama's sampler measures just 7 1/4 inches H by 6 inches W sight and 9 inches H by 7 1/2 inches W in it's new figured wood frame with gold liner. Pama's sampler is circa 1794. The third and largest sampler of the three was stitched by Elizabeth B Champion,Pama's daughter in 1828. Elizabeth's sampler is stitched in blue and gold silks. Like her Mother and Aunt's sampler includes a uppercase alphabet and a lowercase alphabet and a number line. She also includes a verse: "Now I am young I will attend The sober counsel of a friend" She squeezes her name a second time at the very end of the verse. Between the verse and the number line she stitches her information: "Elizabeth B Champion 10 Years 1828" All lines are separated by simple bands and the whole sampler is enclosed with a charming simple band in blue. Elizabeth's sampler measures 9 3/4 inches H by 8 inches W , sight and 11 1/4 inches H by 9 3/4 inches in it's new figured wood frame with gold liner. All three sampler stitchers are descendants of the founders of Springfield, MA and these samplers have been passed down through the family until 1985. A Genealogy file of the Stebbins Family of Springfield,MA is included with the samplers going back to Rowland Stebbins born 1594,England. The samplers have been conservation mounted and protected with acid free materials. All three samplers are in very good condition and ready to hang. They should remain together and are offered together for a very low starting bid with no reserve. Good Luck.
