Fine, antique, American, Classical flamed mahogany Butler's chest secretary, circa 1840 . Fine, antique, American Butler's chest secretary, circa 1840, made of flamed mahogany. To the top is an overhanging dummy drawer, that has a drop-down writing surface, enclosed are twenty pigeon holes and a drawer, below are two ornately carved columns, the tops of the columns provide the pull out lopers/supports for the writing surface. Below the writing surface are three graduated drawers, all of the drawers have the original pulls, the chest stands on ring-turned bun feet. The chest has the most wonderful flamed mahogany throughout, condition is very good , original finish, d imensions; 45" tall x 21" deep when closed & 40" deep when open x 42.5" wide.
