You are bidding on an Antique Portrait Oil Painting. This piece is a RARE FIND due to its size, age and beauty and is an original oil painting that was signed by VERY WELL listed artist Samuel Finley Breese MORSE (1791-1872) who is listed in the Davenport, Artprice, Askart and many other art indexes and is darkly insrbivbed on the verso on the stretcher. This is an original oil on Canvas of Museum Size & Quality measruoing over 3 Feet Wide and almost 4 Feet Tall that depicts a beautiful portrait of a Woman set in a nice interior in the background . This was very well done in both color and clarity from the distinctive charcateristics of her facial features and expressions down to her mannerisms and the beautiful detail in her clothing with nice lace work and accessories and jewelery from the time period. The painting has very fine detail with beautiful shades of tonalism and gives warmth and charcater in the painting with fine brush strokes and color tones that were very well blended from even the nice satin laced clothing that she wears from the time period. Morse was very well known for his paintings which have brought upwards of over 1 million dollars in his auction records and as the painting came from a very fine estate here in New York the inscription is very hard to see from the naturally aged patina on the back stretcher which is referenced in the photos. The painting of the Woman could be a form of Expression through the artist of Love, Tranquility, Home, Family, Tradition, Friendship, Sensuality, Heritage, Memories and can mean so many things to so many different people. The beauty of art is that there are many different ways of looking at this painting and the beauty is all in the eye of the beholder.
