Fantastic Antique American Oak Roll-top Desk This desk is a fine period oak piece of high style and craftsmanship. It was made around the turn of the century (1900 - 1910) and is the best of its type. The 50 inch high desk contains a fully developed interior beneath a stylishly curved wood tambour cover. It was acquired in Northern California and measures 60 inches in length and 34 inches in width. All the original finish and multi paneled - raised sides and back. The "pillowed" panels of quartered oak is of the highest quality. This immense desk is supported on double pedestals with several drawers and file space area . Unique features: Desk made by the manufacturing company of J.D. Warren in Burlington, Iowa This desk has the original lock and key. Tambour cover liner newly restored. Right side pedestal pulls out to reveal 3 inside original file drawers. These file drawers are 11-1/2 inches wide by 12-1/2 inches. The paper file keepers are 11-1/2 by 10 inches. Below these files is a single large file drawer that is 12-1/2 inches wide, 23 inches from front to back, and has a nice depth of 10-1/2 inches. This drawer is divided with the original wood file dividers. Left side pedestal contains bank of 4 drawers - 12-1/2 inches wide, 23 inches from front to back, and 4-1/2 inches deep. It has the original "extra work space" wooden tray pull outs on each side of the desk. They measure 12-1/2 inches wide and 16-1/2 inches from front to back. Multiple inside cubbyholes. Two slender pencil trays - measuring 12-1/2 inches by 7-1/2 inches. Accompanying this desk is an antique desk chair. The comfortable chocolate leather and oak chair has roller casters for easy mobility. The chair's height is also adjustable. This magnificent roll-top desk is a perfect addition to any business office or home study. It functions as a beautiful "catch all". Just roll the top down, and it hides all the unsightly paper, files, and miscellaneous "stuff" that one collects. This item is listed as 'local pickup only'.
