Antique American Washstand & WringerExcellent Condition for its Age**Very Rare**1895**This 1895 wringer was intended to fold out between two washtubs, one with soapy water and one for rinse water. The clothes were washed on a washboard, fed through the wringer, using the hand crank and “Improved Guide Board”, into the clean water tub. After rinsing, laundry was fed back through the wringer into a basket for hanging on the clothesline. In compact form the wringer measures 18 inches wide by 53 inches tall by 11 inches deep, outstretched it measures 50 inches across the bottom. There is a lot of clear original lettering on this piece. As you can see from the pictures, it says:American Wringer Co.New York USA B300 10x1 3/4NoveltyIt's all in the rubberPatented nov 19 1901NOVELTY FOLDING BENCH WRINGERExtra high grade warranted patented June 18 1895Some of the stamped lettering is in near mint condition This unique item is in excellent condition for its age. We’ve all seen wringers separately, but rarely do you see one intact with its original base. It is all original, with original ornate hardware, tilting guide board, lovely warm luster, and I believe it is made of maple. As you can see from the pictures, this makes a stunning display for your own vintage linens, quilts, etc.Email any questions!
