EXQUISITE ANTIQUE AMETHYST CANDY JAR GORGEOUS antique AMETHYST PURPLE pressed pattern glass footed apothecary / candy jar / compote bowl with lid cover. The exact pattern name is unknown to me, but it is done in recessed panels with a spire lid. I don't know the glassmaker, but it bears a striking resemblence to old Heisey Recessed Panels, but I find no Heisey mark on this piece. I do know this jar is very old and glows a strong milky green under black light. The glass is a beautiful transparent amethyst/purple. LARGE SIZE: 10-1/4" tall to the tip of the finial and stands nice and level and steady on a wide 3-3/4" diameter foot. The mouth of the jar measures 4-1/4". The pattern is deeply pressed and well defined. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! VERY NICE CONDITION! NO CHIPS! NO CRACKS! THE LID IS PERFECT! The glass is a transparent amethyst purple & she just SPARKLES! T are some teensy pinpoint-sized bubbles in the glass, none burst, and this is a common finding in antique pressed glass. T is wear to the bottom of the foot...she's been sitting and sliding around for a long time. Possibly since ca.1900! T are scratches inside the bowl and I think you'll be able to see some of them in my photos. They are most easily seen if you hold the jar up and look through the glass. She's a STUNNING piece of old pressed glass and displays beautifully! You won't be disappointed, she's a TREASURE!
