Antique Holloware Remarkable collection of assorted antique and vintage sterling Hollow ware, originally purchased from an estate in Boston , Ma. This lot is a mix of English and American sterling, and based on some of the Hallmarks, could span the late 1700's through the 1800's as well as 1900's. T are 27 pieces of Holloware and 2 plates for a total of 29 pieces.Total weight is approximately 51.865 Troy ounces. All pieces are hallmarked and/or marked Sterling . All pieces of Holloware are in good to very good condition showing the patina of age and use. Most are very good, some pieces are showing wear. The single creamer (not part of set) has a small dent in it and is probably good for scrap only.More pictures and more detail on the marks can be supplied on request. It's cost prohibitive to put too many pictures up.In researching origin, age the English sterling carries "marker's mark" of the following silversmiths; James Dixon & Sons, R.P, M. West and R W, W.L All carry Lions Passant Regardant, Date Letter and Duty Mark-Kings Head and in some cases a Britannia mark(sugar tongs) and what is suspected to be a Crowned Leopards Head Mark(casters)Items ; Tea Set( 4 pieces), Sugar Tongs(2), Casters, small Salt shakers, 6 small trays and matchbook covers,Of special note;Two Casters; Both have maker's mark of undetermined silversmith R.P. The Lions Passant Regardant indicates London , Date Letter, and what is suspected as a "Crowned Leopards Head" is on both. Estimate age as Late 1770's-early 1800's.Condition; has patina of age, very good, no dentsTea Set; By Silversmith J W Dixon & Sons. Set is comprised of four pieces; Teapot (individual size, could be bachelors teapot), Creamer, Sugar Bowl and Tea Caddy, which isn't a matched piece but have been bundled in description because the maker is the same.. The Tea Caddy has an ornate etching on the top. Markings include; Date Letter , Lions mark, " Sheffield " mark Condition; very good to excellent, no dents. Beautiful Antique Tea Set.Two Sugar Tongs; Large Tongs, by unknown silver smith R.W M.West . Plan design. Carries the duty mark of the kings head, Britania mark, Date Letter and undeterminable mark.Smaller tongs by unknown silversmith W L has an ornate design around the outside.
