This auction is for an original antique working bakelite 1A Monophone from the 1920's produced by the Automatic Electric Company. This telephone is not only very rare but is in exceptional condition. These phones are frequently used as models for many of today's reproductions because of their timeless style. It has beautiful solid brass accents decorating both it's handset as well as it's dial finger wheel. This phone has been meticulously disassembled, rewired, reassembled, polished and buffed to look as beautiful as it did in the roaring 20's. The only replacement parts you will find is a new black cloth line cord and new rubber ring around it's base. We have upgraded this phone a highly desirable mint condition original stock braided cord on the handset to complete it's look. This phone is in excellent condition and can be used to both place and receive calls. It has been equipped with a small modular RJ11 phone jack attachment at the end of it's cord so it can simply be plugged in and used like any new phone produced today. The dial is an Automatic Electric Type 24 which is very desirable because of it's great sound and it has a near mint porcelain numbers only dial plate. In addition, it's super stylish solid brass handset bands are in near perfect to perfect condition, very unusual to find on these old phones! We personally love this particular model of phone because it is so comfortable to use and has amazingly clear reception considering it's age. The bakelite body has a wonderful warm patina which is a deep black. The phone's body is a lighter weight than many of the phones of this era and is fairly maintenance free. You will find very few of these original phones on Ebay or anyw for that matter. We personally appreciate their elegance and enjoy using our antique and vintage phones daily. We have been both collectors and restorers of a variety of antique and vintage telephones for more than fifteen years and take great pride in their beauty and function. "Absolutely beautiful","Simply spectacular!" and "The best product I have ever bought on Ebay" are comments received from the new owners of phones we have auctioned on Ebay. Please take a moment to view our feedback and especially make a note to click on the "from buyers" tab. These phones make an ideal gift for the antique lover's home, although they look beautiful in any setting, the perfect conversation piece and investment. The winning bidder has several options regarding their phones ringer system. They can choose from an internal modern electronic ringer or an external small modern bell ringer for no additional cost. Both of these work well when you are just looking to showcase your phone and find an additional box somewhat cumbersome. The bell ringer we offer sounds very much like the original box ringers, very loud and clear, has an on /off switch and can be discreetly placed anyw near the phone.
