Over the next few weeks I will be listing several items and I hope you'll be watching...the profits will go to a good cause. I have a little rescue dog, a bearded collie, who has lived a tortured life. She was used as bait for the pit bulls and was probably the worst case of animal abuse I had ever seen. If you have a weak stomach don't read on. She had an imbedded collar and was hung so her barker doesn't work, she is a silent dog. She was covered with gaping holes from the pit bulls pulling her flesh away from her bones. She was bald, had half an ear and had a metal bar wedged in her mouth. The bones in her elbows were exposed from being dragged. She had rickets and her teeth were broken off from being hit most likely. She was dying and couldn't hold her head up when I found her in a friends basement, she had gotten away from her captors and somehow got into the basement to die. I've had her for 2 years, she's a broken dog but she loves me, has good food and a nice bed. I've named her Hope because t's hope for her.She doesn't play or interact with people but she's safe and I love her and she loves me. Although she doesn't like to be petted or handled recently she's begun looking at me with a relaxed and contented look on her face which looks like a smile to me. You can see her happy face in the photos below. But, recently Hope was diagnosed with breast cancer and needs surgery that I can't afford. I will be listing items on ebay and relying on the kindness of others to bid and help HOPE. A vet once told me, "we can't save them all at once, just one at a time." Poor Hope has lived such an already tortured life and I have promised her I will not let the vet or anyone else impose pain and suffering on her. She has a tumor on her breast but she is comfortable, so the vet will remove 3 breasts and we will hope for the best. ********************************************* Just and update to this story. The vet trusted me to make payments with the money I make from my ebay sales and Hope has had her surgery. I am happy to tell all who have been kind enough to bid on my auctions that the cancer was not metastatic which means it most likely wont travel to her lungs and liver and she can live to old age. On the flip side, emotionally she has regressed because once again people inflicted pain on her so we're back to working on her trust issues. Given a bit of time and patience she'll trust again, I'm hoping. And another update......Thanks to the generosity of ebayers I have been able to pay more than 1/2 of the bill already, just another 800 to go. And one more update. Hope spent a day in the hospital last week with ear surgery. Her "little ear" or the one that was bitten off has been a continuous problem so she had surgery last week to cauterize the ulcers and stop the infections. And yet another update. Her ears are requiring several visits to the doctor so for those of you who have been watching and are so generously bidding please understand that the bill is going down slowly. So moneywise its been 2 steps forward, one step back but she's "oh, so worth it" This auction is for 2 beautiful ART DECO BANQUET LAMPS. I can't find a signature but they are obviously French with the griffins so reminiscent of Notre Dame. The glass is what I believe they call Camphor Glass. The lamps need repair. One is in working condition but not safe to use. The tops are different, I don't know which is the original. The bottoms are made of pot metal and that too is in less than perfect condition. The originally had buttons to turn on and off but someone removed the button from one of them and put a wire on with an on/off button. A bit of history. I found this pair in the back of an antique shop that was going out of business about 20 years ago. Since then they've been sitting in a box until I could "get to them and have them repaired."
