A uction D escription You are looking at a pair of some of the best and unquestionably some of the rarest pieces from a foundry that was widely known in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century - Bradley & Hubbard, known by many as simply B&H. Highly regarded by curators, collectors and antique dealers, the Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Company was one of the largest producers of decorative and functional iron pieces. The set of bookends offered isn't found in many reference guides and was the inspiration for pairs that followed in smaller sizes. This fully figural Bradley & Hubbard pair is 100% old and authentic and is in nothing less than superb, antique condition. These show no signs of mishandling or abuse and remain first rate pieces. These display amazingly and are of superior craftsmanship and artistry. You will find that these amazing pieces are free from any flaws or defect. Every detail is sharp and crisp, and the features are so lifelike and pronounced. The body is gilded in a nicely aged wrought iron finish, and the base is a massive, weighty, cast iron block. This pair would have originally possessed the old, turn-of-the-century, black and white, triangular B&H labels, but those are now long gone, as is common with such old bookends.
