A uction D escription Up for your consideration is an Art Deco Judd President Lincoln Book Rack from the Deco era. This piece was made by the Judd Manufacturing Company of Wallingford Ct. This renowned and well-respected company produced some of the most classic and first rate Bookend Sets and assorted Metalwares to date. This piece is from 1925 and is very much Art Nouveau / Classical Art Deco in Style and Composition. The side faces, which possess a beautiful, speckled Verde finish, are characterized by sinuous "whiplash" lines and elegantly scrolling curves, which accent the focal point in the center - a lovely, raised relief of Lincoln's bust presented in profile. This representation is very reminiscent of the ex-President's image that appears on the American penny, and this is further heightened by the use of a deep, copper-colored finish. Just lovely!The book rack offered is definitely on par with some of Judd's most exceptional pieces. It is a simple design yet possesses much detail and appeal. Made of cast iron and brass, this rack features an accurate depiction of the Great Emancipator. Both faces of the rack are in great condition, with only minimal rubbing of the finish, mostly on the raised edges of Lincoln's bust.
