The full description will list shortly.... This auction is for a beautiful pair of Art Deco pearl, enameled earrings. The diamond shaped earring face has a embossed edging decorated with a bars, beads and tiny leaves. It surrounds a screaming Deco design featuring a reeded center belt and two demi lunes each with a guilloche sun burst. This brilliant pattern has been enhanced by a layer of transparent turquoise colored fired glass enamel. We are such a fan of the guilloche enamels. The fine reeded lines, circle and burst center design and tiny beading accents grab and release the light in a shimmer, reflecting back through the translucent glass and adding a brilliant quality to the enamel, just as sunlight enhances the beauty of a stained-glass window. In fact, the Caribbean blue turquoise color seems to glow from within. If the color wasn't eye catching enough, a lovely full pearl is set at the heart of the earring. These two genuine gems measure approximately 3.2mm each and have creamy white color with beautiful luster and no visible blemishing. The earring face is rhodium plated copper...the vintage style ear wires are 14k white gold. We love vintage jewelry...particularly old cufflinks, pins and clothing buttons. We think it's a shame that these things are left sitting in sock drawers and sewing boxes. It seems that if no one wears cufflinks, they must be useless...well not any more! With the advent of laser welding, reclaimed treasures can have a new life lease. These earrings started life circa 1930 as a pair of gentlemans' Baer and Wilde snap close cuff links. We're professional jewelers; after removing the old snap parts, we attached the vintage style ear wires and catchers using our laser welder. The laser welder is a machine that generates a laser beam which literally welds the metals together with none of the torch flame, blazing heat or sloppy solder that would ruin the delicate enamels and pearls. You'll love the vintage style shepherd hook and catch wires. They are so easy to use...no more fumbling with (and losing!) tiny ear nuts; and the wires give the earrings a saucy bit of eye catching swing. Some gals have been worried about wearing wires, but have been relieved to find the the "catchers" make them very safe and comfortable. The earring face measures 15.3mm square with the earrings hanging 1 and 1/8th inches in the ear. They weigh a very comfortable 3.1 total grams. The enamel is in excellent condition. We've been listing our one of a kind earrings for more than four years now...making jewelry is the only thing we do. Our 42 years of experience makes sure the earrings are turned to the proper angles for the best viewing. We would never skimp on the length of the wires because short wires mean the earrings tilt downward. Safety catchers are essential so the earrings won't slip out of the ear. After the earrings are fully researched, with the auction having all of the appropriate detailing, we then take fine, close up photographs. When your friends exclaim over the earrings, you'll be able to amaze them with their true history.
