Antique Art Nouveau Mettlach Punch Bowl Circa 1890
Description
To auction comes this beautiful Mettlach punch bowl. The background is cream colored with olive colored trim on top, handles, base and lid decor. It shows us two castles on the Rhein river, Bacharach and Ehrenfels. It's decorated with purple grapes and target like squares plus the castle view and city view. The lid is also decorated in beautiful Art Nouveau decor and a little proverb saying, "Am Rhein, Am Rhein, Da Wachsen Unsre Reben, Gesegnet Sei Der, Rhein which means "On the Rhein, on the Rhein, our grapes grow. Blessed be the Rhein". The bottom is marked with a castle from Mettlach and the initials VB for Villeroy & Boch. It also has the lettering, "Made in Germany" and the numbers 3037 and II and the letters 20 and 10 and a black 1226 and the word "Geschutzt". It has a spot on the rim of the bowl but that's from firing. It has some discoloration on the inside but otherwise no chips or cracks and it's in good condition and a wonderful example of Mettlach pottery. It measures without the lid 8" high, it's 8.5" in diameter and 12" wide with the handles and 12" tall with the lid.

We ship UPS insured for domestic shipments. We use USPS for international shipments. Shipping costs will vary depending on the size of item, type of packaging required and location being shipped to. We can only supply an EXACT quote once the item is packed and we have the exact weight and dimensions. All items shipped are insured (unless instructed otherwise at your own risk), packed with care and WELL PROTECTED. We ship via UPS, unless another carrier is specified. The International shipment quotes listed with the auction are an estimate. It could be more or less depending on the specifics of the shipment. Please include shipping address, zip code, desired method of shipping and insurance required for a closer estimate. Please note that large, heavy and/or fragile items or antiques will require additional time and cost to pack and ship.
We do not charge additional for shipping above and beyond our own expenses.
