. Arthur and Bond Yokohama Japan Sterling. I don't have to tell you what the provenance and validate the pedigree of this item if you are an astute collector. If you are a collector of antique silverware you know that Arthur and Bond were English retailers who had a location in Yokohama, and may have manufactured some of their items, selling mostly to expatriates and travelers, and their dates were from 1868 to 1920. So when I say the insignia is on the bottom of this box you will know that it dates prior to 1920. And if Arthur and Bonds label says "Sterling" do you think it just might be silver??? This lovely box has the iris motif and the initials AZ emblazoned on the lid. It obviously has been and pressed and bears the marks of this, with a slight crack in one of the rear corners w possibly the polishing rag may have caught the edge. The botton is wood with the maker's id set in silver. Inside is cedar. Along with it is included this nail file from before 1910 I believe, because it says "Westphalia Germany", which was known BEFORE World War 1. It was obviously cared for and never mishandled. This I know from my family's values, to take care of precious items, It is about 7 inches long and 5 high. I will not be relisting this item at a lower bid if it does not sell. How do you lower the price of something so rare??? Opening bid read more
