I am selling this wonderful set of andirons for a client. They belonged to her father who was given them by a prominent and very wealthy friend in California. This individual had a vast collection of wonderful antiques, and these andirons are no exception. I will describe them to the best of my ability, but I am not an expert on this type of item and welcome any questions. Each andiron is approximately 10-1/2" tall and the base is approximately 12" wide. The highly detailed circular parts look like brass to me, as does the detailing on the rest of the andirons. The rest of the andiron, which is black, is obviously some other kind of metal. The back of the andirons (which held the wood in the fireplace) have some rust--it looks very superficial and like it would come off with a little fine steel wool. I will leave any cleaning up to the buyer, as I don't want to damage these in any way. The bolts on the back (holding the circular parts in place, as these are separate pieces) are square, indicating their age. T are a few paint drips on the back of the andirons, but I'm sure these could also easily be removed. These are so unique and really gorgeous! Buyer to pay actual shipping. Washington State residents, please add 8.4% sales tax. I prefer Paypal, but will also accept money orders and cashier's checks. I appreciate hearing from the winning bidder within 4 days of the end of the auction, and to receive payment within 10 days of the close of the auction. Thanks so much for looking and happy bidding!
