Just acquired out of an Indiana estate is this exceptional antique table lamp. From early in the first quarter of 20th century, the lamp combines art nouveau elements in the bronze patinated base to a really special hammered copper shade in the best spirit of arts and crafts. Whether this is an original transitional piece or the product of a very commodious joining of these two different styles into a single lamp I am not certain. However, the result is truly wonderful. The lamp is offered as found in original patina. The very early cloth wiring could not be saved because it was both damaged and worn . However we replaced it with a good cloth cover consistent with the original. Both sockets and pulls are fully functional. T is some evidence of repair to the brass fittings which attach the light sockets to the lamp. These repairs however, are not noticeable in use and are only viewable with the shade off or looking up into the lamp from directly below the shade. The balance of the lamp is in near pristine condition. I was surprised to find this lamp is not signed either on the base or shade. The lamp stands approximately 18 inches tall. It has 16 inch diameter shade and the base measures 6 1/2 inches by 9 inches. This wonderful lamp would improve the finest table or desk from this highly collectable period.
