I went to a farm auction this weekend in Mendota Illinois and picked up this wonderful mission arts and crafts style stool. It's all original - leather top with horsehair stuffing. The wood is solid, but I'm not sure exactly what it is, the patina is quite dark to red. At first I thought it was oak, but the stool itself is so heavy (5 lbs), I'm wondering if it's not mahogany??? I've tried to take a good close up of the beautiful grain, so you can judge. It's a very hard wood. Sturdy, no creaks or wiggles at all. The pictures show the chips and nicks on the wood consistent with it's age. It measures 8 1/2" tall, 14" long, and 8" wide. The leather is black and in very good condition. Please ask me if you have any questions.
