Circa 1912 Antique Mission Oak Footstool, by The Lakeside Craft Shops Vintage rare rocking footstool manufactured by The Lakeside Craft Shops, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a short-lived but prolific company, a division of Wisconsin Chair Company, that made small oak and mahogany Arts & Crafts accessories. Signed under seat w/ decal, plus t is a partial paper label that is unreadable. This is a great piece...a foostool designed for a rocking chair. It is fun to use...completely changes the dynamics of using a footstool w/ a rocking chair. Since you don't see many rocking footstools, you may think it is a gimmick design, but you will be surprised at how well it functions. Versatile and it doesn't take up much space...easily moved. Cutouts at each end. Charles Rohlfs also made a footstool almost exactly like this (I'm assuming Lakeside stole the design from him), which sold at a Rago auction years ago for megathousands. Not original finish but still has old leather and tacks. Some wear to leather...see photos. Rockers are in excellent shape as well. Almost 100 years old, but this oak stool is solid and in primo condition...it has been well cared for. Stands 17" tall to the top of the wood, measures 16" wide. Leather pad height is 15".
