This is an original Seth Thomas - Ashcroft Manufacturing company mariners clock that was given to my father by an old friend who worked the great lakes for many, many years. I'm not sure which vessel it came from by it was a parting gift from the ships captain. The clock measures 8 1/8" in Diameter x 3 7/8" deep with a 6" glass dial opening. The solid brass forged case was made by the Ashton Company and is in excellent condition. As you can see by the photos I have not disturbed the patina either inside or outside as I expect you would have it professionally done. I am afraid I would not do it properly and destroy it's grand originality. The clock works fine and there is a wind up key that comes with it as well as 3 mounting screws and washers. There is a speed adjust lever above the 12 to adjust the clocks accuracy and a second hand dial below the 12. The numbers still show the original black paint which is hard to find in these old clocks. This clock, as with all of these, is stamped with a number indicating it's originality, and the number can be seen in photo number 5 at (56141001). The Ashcroft Mfg Co. logo and pat. notification is seen in photo 6. Things I must point out is the long hand has rust showing at it's tip which can be restored easily and the seal putty around the glass on the inside of the lid needs to be replaced, read more
