I just can't describe the beauty of this work of art. Not much history on it. My mother's wealthy uncle traveled to China a lot in the 50's and purchased a lot of antiques like snuff bottles, boxes and this. I just assume it's very, very old, as his other items were. The good news is it's beauty. The blue around the outer edge is a vibrant, just brilliant blue, and the main blue is a rich deep, deep blue. T is good sparkly rough "feeling" material in places for highlights. T is some ribbon with tiny, tiny stitching on it around the edge and making up the center circle. The back is a light tan color, in what feels like a cotton type fabric. I THINK THE TOP IS SILK, AND THAT PERHAPS, JUST PERHAPS it was an alter cloth. (?)

Now for the bad news. It was professionally cleaned, and they apparently weren't "professtionals." It does have damage. It's very hard to photo the damage.It's very thin in places, and one place w the binding comes over as a flap, it need to be stitched. (easy job...I can do it for you if you like. ) If you send me your email address I'll send more photos of the bad areas. I was going to frame it under glass, but it's been years and I just can't take the time to figure out how to do it. ACTUALLY, when you look at it from a few feet away, it's difficult to see all the damage, and that's why I kept it, hoping to get it up on a wall.
