This listing features a rare and beautiful Chinese silk tapestry in immaculate but delicate condition! It is believed to be made around WWI (1916-1919). It has been hand sewn and detailed with 4 beautiful fire breathing dragons that measure 12" long and 6" high. It has flowers and scroll detail as well. These pictures are a far cry from what this item actually looks like. It is more beautiful in person and the detail and work involved are much more appreciated! The background color of the tapestry is navy blue with an olive green border which I believe is cotton. The colors of the designs include, light and dark blues, variety of browns with touch of gold, olive green, other greens, teal, coral, orange and red. The colors are soft. I enhanced a few of the pictures so you could see the actual detail and condition of this item. Again, the colors are softer. I have also included a picture of the backing of the tapestry. The tapestry measures approximately 58" L x 18" H. This item currently is not framed. However, I would suggest that the new owner do so. Please note that there are a few small areas where the fabric has slightly separated and this is mainly around the corner areas. This is where the item may have been handled. There is a small area on the back of the linen that appears to have some tape residue. It's about 2" to 4" in size. Nothing major. Otherwise, this item is in great shape.
