This is an Antique banjo I got at a yard/estate sale in Central Ma a few Weekends ago, the old gent said it was his fathers and grandfathers and was always in his family, I don't know much about old banjos so please ask questions if I don't describe it properly, it's just the way I got it, I passed a dry rag over it to remove the dust, it's very dirty/grungy, lots of years of patina on the wood and the nickel, you can hardly see the inlaid in spots, I'll leave the cleaning to the buyer, it seems to be in good original condition and would restore beautifly, it's about 29" total length, the neck is 18 1/4" and seems to be straight, I don't see any bends or warps, the banjo is about 11" I beleive the tuners are ivory, I tightened the strings when I bought it and it seems to play great, t's a few nicks on the edge of the top neck piece, t's one piece that can be glued back on, I show a picture of it, it's not bad as you can see in the pictures, one of the bolts is missing, other than that it seems pretty much all intact, he said his dad played it right up untill the time he passed. It's marked Luscomb's Pat 1893 Banjo and in little letters Pat Sept 12 1893 Boston Mass USA I'm not sure what the wood is, probably mahogany? and the front must be ebony? the frets are all intact. I'm not sure what else to say about it. I hope it's a good one. I normally do not ship such large items and not sure what shipping cost and packing material/box would be, I'm going to charge a flat rate of $30.00 Good luck bidding on this great old banjo guaranteed to be fresh from an estate and new to Ebay. Talking more about the straightness of the neck, the neck looks very straight from front to back and up and down but looking across the frets, from side to side the edges are slightly higher than than middle, like U shape, it's very little and I hate to even mention it but I want to be as accurate as I can, when I put a straight edge across the frets I can slide 3 pieces of paper under the middle, that's not much, I could not tell looking at it. Someone also mentioned that the star inlaid does'nt look symmetrical, like it may have been replaced, I think it's very dirty and the wood has shrunk around it slightly, I can't be sure? Regardless of these minor issues this is a really great old banjo. Feel free to ask more questions. Ray
