It is an unusual old time barber pole. The metal is cast iron with a porcelain enamel surface. The light up cylinder is made of a thick milk glass with the red stripe painted on. The back mounting plate is 23" long. The barber pole is 20" long. The glass cylinder is appromimately 2 3/4" diameter and 17" long. The glass appears to be in very good condition. T is a long thin light bulb inside. The cord is frayed so we didn't plug it in. It weighs 11 pounds. T are some chips and rust on the green enamel. A screw head is missing from the top and bottom. The wiring will need restoring. The red paint striping is old, but t looks like an original red coat under this one. A possibly rare small size trade sign. It would look great hanging on the wall and illuminated with the dimly lit bulb. Nice old nostalgic American advertising item. From St. Louis.
