Up for grabs is this wonderful early 1900's wicker and wood sewing basket. The wicker is very heavy and painted a pretty shade of jadeite green. The underside of the box is wood. Beautiful 3-dimensional barbola/gesso pink roses with dark green leaves decorate the front and back of the box as well as the lid. Gesso work is in outstanding condition with no damage. The front of the box has a wicker loop with a green silk tassel attached to it. Please note that the lid is not attached to the basket itself. T may have been hinges attached to the back at some point but it is hard to tell. I detect a couple of small holes near the back of the lid so it should be an easy task to wire the lid to the basket if you should desire. Basket measures 4 1/2" high, 10" long and 7 1/2" deep. It is in very nice sturdy condition with no deterioration to the wicker. The paint is chipping and t but that only adds to its charm. The interior of the basket is lined a velvet type material that reminds me of what you often see on old carpet bags. Inside t are some vintage and antique sewing notions which I am including. Items are: Cream and blue silk ribbon collar with glass beads (as is) 1 roll of pale lavender paper wrapped ribbon (appears full...10 yards) Interesting cream crochet and pink silk ribbon sampler attached to old paper. Typewritten at the top is: "A Merry Christmas. This little Gift I made by hand And finished it with care, It's well you know that I crochet Good wishes everyw" 4" round cream netted lace pin cushion with 3 glass headed pins 3" floral watered silk needle book and tiny sewing pouch. The pouch is badly shattered. 1 1/4" cream metal tape measure decorated with pink roses on both sides. 1 book of English needles (only a couple remaining inside) 2 3/4" tiny sewing scissors 6 white shell buttons Small gold metal thimble Wonderful basket and charming accessories for display! Don't hesitate on this lovely antique basket...you will love it! Vintage and antique items are sold in "as-found" condition and all sales are final.
