antique biscuit tin - Crosse & Blackwell
antique biscuit tin - Crosse & Blackwell
Sold For:
This is a beautiful antique biscuit tin. I believe it is from England. It is a wonderful green color trimmed in gold with blue hues. It has a very nice gold button clasp. On the front and back is a village scene with a store marked " Crosse and Blackwell." Underneath the scene it is marked "Since 1706". In the center of the top is a royal coat of arms with a lion and unicorn, the words "Dieu et mon droit" and "By appointment Purveyors to H.M. the King" . The top is colored green, gold, ivory and orange. The sides are a thatched roof cottage and "The Old Curiosity Shop". The inside and bottom are gold and are worn with scratches, especially the bottom. It is 12 1/2 in. wide by 11 1/4 in. deep by 8 in. high. It is quite heavy. It is not a perfect piece, but it is still very beautiful!
