Here's a sweet baby for lovers of big antique bisque baby dolls. This baby looks all boy to me and although he's adorable in his antique christening gown I think he'd be cute in some kind of antique play suit. He stands approximately 21" tall and has a perfect head with pretty brown sleep eyes surrounded by painted upper and lower lashes and multi-stroke brows. he has an open mouth with two porcelain teeth showing along with a separately molded tongue. His blonde bowl-cut wig is original and full with the pate still glued inside. His body is beautifully modeled and very heavy made of the kind of oyster shell based composition unique to Japanese dolls. It has a chip at the back of his neck but the rest of the body is in great condition. Close observers will note that in the first photo he had another chip at the front, but I found that chip in his diaper and it's been reglued. His head is marked with the letters RE enclosed in a box and below Made in Nippon. He comes dressed in a diaper and undershirt, blue booties and a wonderful old christening gown loaded with lace and rows of pintucks. His cap is antique crochet with satin ribbons (frayed) and ribbon rosettes on either side for decoration. His gown has some flaws, a tear in the left sleeve lace and stretched elastic in the cuffs, but overall is a gorgeous old piece of white wear. read more
