ATTENTION COLLECTORS ATTENTION COLLECTORS 2 Black Americana Folk Art Cloth Dolls sold as a set only Up for bid are 2 beautiful Black Americana Folk Art stuffed cloth dolls. These were purchased from an estate sale and have been verified as dating between 1900-1920's. Both are handmade and handstitched. Please note details below: Male doll is 21" tall and is wearing a black velveteen "butler" suit with a cream colored shirt that has 5 tiny white buttons and a teal bowtie. Eyes are made from white felt and black buttons (one button missing). Lips are made from red felt and smile line is embroidered in black. The right arm at some time must have separated from the body and has been pinned to stay on, but is concealed under the jacket Hair has been crocheted on in a single row across the top from ear to ear The skin is made of what looks to be a thin fabric with a sheen to it. The fabric on the feet has some wearing issues due to the age. Baby is designed differently. His skin is made from a black knit of some kind. His baby collar at one time was a deep red but shows definite signs of fading. Doll is handstitched with yarn formed for his hands and feet (missing from one his feet). The face has only an embroidered mouth and hair. Not sure if the cone shaped is supposed to be a hat or not. The topknot of it has deteriorated some. read more
