From my garnet collection, (January birthday), this is one on many brooches, pins & pendants I have bought over the last 40 years. I am listing several pieces because I simply have not been wearing much jewelry since I have retired...no kids to pass it on to. This is a delicately designed and well made piece of Victorian jewelry. It is probably vermeil - gold wash over sterling. The garnets are all deep blood red Bohemian garnets. The pin is curved shaped - like a smile and consists of 4 "heart" like segments. Each segment has a faceted (rose cut) pear shaped stone approx 3/16", surrounded by 11 small faceted stones. 2 of the tiny stones had fallen out - luckily in my jewelry box and will be shipped to the winner.
