ANTIQUE, CHINESE EXPORT, CANTON LOW TEAPOT: This low teapot has a curved spout, large loop handle and a ball knob. It is distinguished by its flared rim. It has a round bottom rim and a glazed bottom. The top is seated in a inset rim. Because of the plain loop handle and ball knob, we date them from the late19th Century to early 20th Century. SIZE: 5 1/2" diameter x 5 1/8" tall. It is in Perfect Condition. Weight: 2 lbs. 0 oz. #1418 This form is illustrated in our CantonChinaVirtualMuseum. Google the museum name after adding: /node/109 to the name to see this form. This Teapot form is rare. Remember, no auction house buyer's premium or state sales taxes (unless you live in CT) when you buy on eBay!! It should be noted that all Canton porcelain has minor imperfections that occur during the shaping process, the hand painting and especially during the glazing & firing of the final product. These imperfections, for example, are gaps in the glaze, firing cracks, off color pieces, bubbles & pin holes in the glaze, black specs, etc. What are not original are: chips, handling cracks, missing or replaced parts, heavy wear and repairs. Some repairs are done very well but still, they are repaired. Pricing of Canton should reflect non-original defects to a higher degree than original imperfections and that is how I price my pieces.
