This lot is a Big Old Heavy Sword that was used in the active Military for over 100 years. It is a German Saber patterned after the British P1976 Light Cavalry Saber. General Bluecher was the reason Waterloo turned out like it did - he used the British sword like this one. It is referred to as a Bluechersabel in German or the German M 1811. Markings on sword are as follows: ***First: II.Es.7.Lw.R.No 140 2nd Squadron 7th Landwehr Regiment (?) Sword #140. *** NEXT: A.M.V.4.103 Artillery Munitions Column of the 5th Army Regiment, Company 4, Sword #103. ***NEXT: S & S - maybe S&S Schnitzier - a manufacturer. ****NEXT: L.E. 38.129 Landsturm Troop 38, Sword 129. And on the Scabbard: ***S.T.F.6.7. Transport Pool Column (Fuhrparkkolonne der Train-Bataillon) attached to the 5ht Service Corp Battallion, Company 6 Sword 7. ***Next: R.F.C 14.27 - Reserve Field Artillery Column(?) Company 14, Sword 27. It started life as a Cavalry Saber and ended as an Artillery Saber around WWII . The history is not what the family thought but, that happens a lot. It possibly could have belonged to the Victor George Lazar family. Victor Lazar was a pilot in the Air Force in the 1950 - 60's, died in Lordsburg, NM. Lazar is a German family name.
