Antique Boulle Box A very nicely decorated small casket for pens, gloves or what have you. The top is decorated in Boulle marquetry with typical fine brass inlayed to tortoiseshell and brass beaded edges, the front has a small similar escutcheon plate and brass stringing on an ebony ground. Inside is ebonised with rosewood under the lid, brass hinges and lockplate (no Key). It was probably made during the early 19th century. Boulle work is in a sad state with all of the brass present and laid down firmly but the tortoiseshell has mostly perished and missing mostly around the outer edges, otherwise small split where base meets the side at the back and part of the brass stringing is held down with tape on front right corner Good piece of shabby chic or for restoring - if you have the skill and patience 10.5" long by 3" tall and 4" deep I will ship anywhere in the world so long as the buyer bears the cost, airmail to USA would be about £13.00 but this may increase subject to the final selling price (anything above £50.00 in value has to have additional insurance added by the post office, somwhere around £5 to £10 extra - Surface mail to USA about £10.00 - I will get accurate prices upon request
