ANTIQUE BOXWOOD CLARINET,CASE,& MUSIC BILTON C.1830 Antique Ivory mounted Boxwood 13 key clarinet from a Connecticut estate. Beautiful flame grained Boxwood with Brass Keys. Maker, Richard Bilton, Circa 1830-1840. Marked BILTON LONDON , the Unicorn Head Mark ,93 WESTMINSTER - BRIDGE ROAD on the bell. Also marked BILTON LONDON and the Unicorn Head Mark on 3 remaining pieces. In the key of ?. Not sure how to tell. Clarinet is in very good original condition with the exception of one missing key[ see photo ], and string wrapped around the inside of two joints to tighten the fit . Also, I think the Ivory tip of the bell might have been replaced since t is some choppiness in the wood that should, in my opinion, be covered by the end piece. Maybe it was made that way, I am not sure. It comes with the original case, which is in good condition, except the escutcheon around the keyhole is missing, and the two back corners of the box are slightly loose and need to be glued [ see photos ].T are eight extra reeds. T is also a Treasure Trove of early beautifully hand written sheet music [see photos]. A sampling: Last Rose Of Summer, Home Sweet Home, Marseillaise, Peace Troubled Soul, Quick March La Victoire, Star Spangled Banner, Sultans Polka, Russian National Hymm. No Reserve.
