Found these in my Mother's garage where they've hid for the past 30 years! prior to that they were polished weekly and used as an ornament. Before that they belonged to a village grocery/pharmacy. Don't know much about antiques but can tell you that they are etched with 'W&T Avery Makers, Birmingham' & 'Patent Agate Balance' and a mark of 'VR 157' The scale is mounted on a wood base which measures 32cm x 61cm and 3cm high. The full height of the scales is 89cm. There looks to be the remains of a green felt that was on the underside of the base. Overall in fairly good condition for an antique (i think) Brass would benefit from a good polish and the wood base probably could be touched up with some wax or varnish? More photos available on request and if you'd like to look before you buy that would be fine also. If collecting would you please pay cash if possible. Any questions just ask but please don't get carried a weigh (haha). No idea what these scales are worth so starting with 99p and no reserves so a bargain for somebody perhaps? From clean smoke free home.
