Antique brass&bronze elephant/cow bell Burmese Elephant Bells in Burma, elephant bells are very different again, and are spherical in shape with a metal ball that rolls around inside making gentle metallic rolling sounds. Elephant bells are often inscribed with leaf designs and circular patterns as well as the maker's insignia in Burmese characters. With the older bells, the name of the king of the time or the name of the person who commissioned the bell may be present. This bell is an original item in 19th Century Mandalay period of Burmese. It has a good patina with some green oxidization and the decoration is particularly worn. It is approximately sized W 3.1/8 inches by H 4.2/8 inches and weight 520 grams. Perfect shape.
