ANTIQUE BRASS CLOCKWORK ROASTING JACK Up for auction is a wonderful clockwork roasting jack made of brass and is from the nineteenth century . This particular one is English. This roasting jack was used for turning m eat while it was being roasted over the fireplace. T is a decorative hook to hang from the fireplace and the meat would hang from the hook at the bottom. It is spring driven by using a key (which is missing). T is a flap on the front that covers w the key would be used. On the front it is pressed with the name "John Linwood Warranted" along with a decorative tree. This jack is approximately "16" tall x 4" wide. I would say this jack is in very good condition for it's age. It does have a few small dents and I have not cleaned or polished it as I was afraid I might lessen the value. Please feel free to e-mail any questions you might have before end of auction. Thank you for looking and good luck!
