A great piece of whimsy dating from the second quarter of the 20th century. A nicely turned brass spindle adorned by a star, most certainly the product of a bored machinist(anyone who ever saw a machinist in an old time shop saw how much of their time was spent at their work bench reading a newspaper while watching some huge piece turn on a lathe and occasionally making a critical adjustment or a drop of oil) or something made by an apprentice as part of a journeymans exam. In any event it is a nice example of an industrial period now gone and a nice piece of Americana. Standing about 7 1/2" tall and weighing almost 4 lbs, it appears to be solid brass attached to a base made of early plastic(looks like the stuff very early radio eqipment was housed in). Insured shipping in the US will run around $10, prefer PayPal for immediate shipment, a personal check may have to clear. Please email me with any questions and good luck bidding!
