A nice antique scope, engraved with the maker's name 'Spears & Company, Dublin'. I don't know much about the scope or it's intended use but I have seen a similar type, which was stated as having nautical origins, in other words, it was for use on a ship. The scope is very unusual, having two spirit levels, as you can see. The glass and liquid of the levels are intact. The scope itself can be looked through and the focus seems to work fine, also. The company of Spears was set up in Dublin, Ireland and was only in existence for around twenty years from the 1850's to the late 1860's, I believe. The scope measures 30cm in length and 16cm in height. This is a rare and unusual scope, made from solid brass, that has lots of collector appeal.
