Template By Froo! Antique Brass, Silver and Copper Art Plate - Hindu Deity, Ganshesha This is the Hindu Dieity Ganesha, the elephant headed God who rides on a rat. Ganesha is said to be the "remover of all obstacles. This plate plat is Eastern Indian in origin from India. In the center there is a man who looks like he may be buddhist. I have taken several picture of the man, so if I am wrong, please someone tell me at as soon as you can. The plate has had quite a bit of work put in it by the artisan. A similar plate depicting a Christian scene is going for $400.00 on Ebay. The work on this plate comes from t. he intricate details that had to be hand hammered in. Each part had to be the right size and color and had to be hammered like that. There is a plastic encasement that was made especially for the plate so that it does not become tarnished. I will be including that also in the auction. There are beautiful intricate flowers and leaves, and what looks like elephant trunks. Then in the center there are rivets, one gold, one copper all the way around. The leaves here are more in halves. It looks like half of a daisy and half of the leaf. The aritisian distinctions had very deep thinking around the placement of these items, so they are representative of something. When you get to the Hindu Man, he is holding up 2 figurines.
