ANTIQUE ORIENTAL BRONZE CHAMPLEVE' ENAMELED LAMP Exotic places like the Orient of old have always held my imagination. This piece is like that; it reminds me of the essence of an exotic Orient before the dominance of the industrialized age. This fine old decorative lamp is champleve' bronze and it is heavy! It stands 23" high and the shade is 12"square. It is in excellent condition with beautiful enameling and the bronze has a fantastic, rich brown patina . I estimate that it was made no later than the 1920's and I really think by the quality look of it that it was probably a bit earlier. It has its wonderful original shade lined with silk that looks ancient enough to be possibly original as well. Since the silk cloth lining shows age damage with noticeable small rips and staining, you may want to replace it. This is a job that I think most anyone who knows how to sew is capable of doing; however, you may use it as is. It has been rewired professionally and it has a 12 foot cord! . . . . . Demeaning extension cord couplings are beneath the dignity of this regal Asian prince! It accepts standard size bulbs with an inverted pull chain double socket fixture.
