Absolutely stunning statue aptly titled "Reveil" (Awakening), depicting a nude young woman in the act of a delicious morning stretch. Many artists of decorative objects in the early 20th Century often drew inspiration from, or just plain copied, great art they found in museums. But if this piece was modeled on a famous statue, I have not been able to identify the original. Bronze clad by Pompeian Bronze, early 1920s. I include a photo from an original Pompeian Bronze catalogue. Condition is superb: no damage, no breaks in the cladding, nothing dented, mashed, broken off or glued back on. The fact that her fingers are intact after 90 years simply is amazing. The finish all is original and shows only minimal wear. This piece clearly has been given loving care for a long time. And this is a HUGE piece. 18 inches tall, to the tips of her fingers; base is 5 inches by 5 inches. And heavy, at 6 3/4 pounds. A truly elegant gift for the classic art lover in your family.
