we have a very beautiful old European Mortar and Pestle from the 15-1600s from what I can tell. This bronze piece is decorated with 2 engraved lines circling it. Beautiful old patina ranging from dark browns, deep golds, light greens / blues, light reds, and lighter gold highlights. Overall a wonderful piece of history in great untouched condition with no damages at all. This is one of a bunch that came to me from the South American coast along with some antique European bronze signaling mortars "thunder mugs" but these are out of my usual realm of militaria, so please forgive me if I am off on the origin at all, I am basing it off of other pieces like it that I can find on the net and from the other items that were found in the same location. Also, if anyone has any more useful info and would be kind enough to give it, I'd love to know more. The overall height of the mortar is 3 1/2". The top diameter is 5 3/8" and the base is 3 3/8". I have not cleaned the item at all and it doesn't have any heavy residue of former contents. The weight of the mortar is 4lbs 4oz. The pestle is 9" long and 1 1/2" wide at most. The weight of the pestle is 1lb 6oz. I'm only charging the actual shipping charges on these, but remember that it's going to be about 7-8lbs with packaging. If you are near NYC you can pick them up as well if you'd like. Feel free to e-mail with any questions or with requests for more pictures ... I'd be more than happy to send more via email. Item is 100% Authentic and NOT a reproduction. I WILL BE LISTING MORE SWORDS, ARMOR, and ANTIQUITIES OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKENDS! Check out my other items currently listed! DISCLAIMERS -----------------------I reserve the right to cancel any bids from buyers with negative or "private" feedback. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 5 MUST contact me prior to bidding so I can ensure a safe auction. Delivery time-frame is subject to the postal carrier used. I assume no liability of delivery time other than shipping your item no later than three business days from auction close under normal circumstances. I assume no shipping liability whatsoever for any items shipped without insurance. Though I list worldwide shipping, I cannot ship to countries that do not permit antique swords to be shipped to them. So please check your local shipping laws BEFORE bidding on item. Due to a recent transaction I have to mention this: I also cannot know what the customs taxes are for every country and those taxes are NOT part of my shipping costs. If you have a special request for an item's customs declaration please contact me. ATTENTION! - I was just made aware thanks to a friendly ebayer that I can ship any domestic orders of these mortars via flat-rate priority for $8.95 up to 20lbs. I can send these internationally flat-rate priority for $37 up to 20lbs. I will also combine shipping as efficiently as possible. Hope this helps with shipping charges! Gotta love customer service reps ... the 20lb weight limit is only for international shipping. The sky's the limit with domestic as long as I can fit them in the box. Just message me for a combined shipping quote if you need it. The cost will depend on the specific mortars and how they will fit in the box.
