Antique, late 19th century whimsical bronze desk piece of a male figure playing an instrument. It is done in the "grotesque style" (copies the image of a late 17th century figure from a Jacques Callot type print) T is an attached container (see picture) which was probably used to hold MATCHES (the back of his jacket could be a striker and the inside depth is 1-3/4") or it would have been for PENS. I would guess this was a desk item. Very RARE & INTERESTING piece. No bumps or dents visable to my eye. SUPERSIZE PICTURE FOR DETAILS AND CONDITION. PICTURES ARE CONSIDERED PART OF THE DESCRIPTION! The bottom is stamped LSF. The piece is about 7" high and the base is about 4-1/2" in diameter. Weighs 1# 8 oz. Appears to be in GREAT CONDITION (SUPERSIZE PICS) to me.
