We have just returned from another spectacular trip around Italy w we have discovered many exceptional Antique Italian Religious items that we can now present to you on Ebay. This week we are very pleased to offer several stunning pieces dating from the 1800's....an elaborately gorgeous Monstrance, an ornate Chalice, a Sanctuary Lamp, a Church Incense Thurible, a second Chalice with Patten, and a lovely Ciborium. Also, we have an Antique Priest's kit of Sacramental Oils, Blessed Eucharist Pyx and Bishop's Oil Stock from early 1900's. (Please see our Group Photo and check our other Auctions.) IN THIS AUCTION we are offering an Antique Italian Incense Thurible or Censer. Incense has always been a part of religious services. The Catholic Church has used incense as far back as the time of Moses as an offering to God. The Church still uses incense in the same way - the fragrant smoke symbolizes our prayers rising to Heaven purifying what it touches. The Thurible holds burning charcoal to ignite the incense and is hung on chains so that it may be swung by the priest when censing things (or people) and so it may be easily carried by the "thurifer" - the Altar server - who assists the priest by carrying the incense.
