Today we have a VERY NICE Antique piece of statuary that was made in the late 1800's or early 1900's.. It is probably of French origin and depicts who I beleive to be "MICHELANGELO" in the process of sculpting one of his famous Madonna's.. He stands t with hammer and chisle in hand ready to work... This GREAT piece is made of spelter / white or pot metal with a very nice bronze patinated finish.. He stands 8 inches high by 7 inches wide.. The base has a very slight bend but still sits solid.. T are two threaded holes on the base w ho might have been mounted to a mantel clock or had a wooden base at one time??? Many pieces of statuary of this type were used by several of the early American clock companies such as Ansonia, Seth Thomas, Waterbury and Gilbert as clock toppers to enhance the popular black cast iron and wood cased clocks of the Victorian era.. You would also find them in many homes as desk or shelf accents to brighten up many parlors and studies of that time period also.. If you need additional photos or info?? Please email me prior to bidding.. Thanks for stopping by and check out my other listings for more antique statuary and clock related items.. SHIPPING WILL BE BY ZIP CODE..
