is a truly rare and wonderful find! - A very Large Antique Brown Transferware CENTER BOWL in pristine condition! MAKER: IMPRESSED MARK reads 'COPELAND' - one of Staffordshire England's finest makers! Estimated date, 1850's. PATTERN NAME: Unmarked, but could be "Ruins" or "Abby Ruins" CONDITION: PRISTINE! - T are NO Chips, NO Cracks, NO Crazing, NO Stains! A couple stray brown lines from the transferware being applied, and the expected occasional potstones (very tiny) indigenous to the medium. FEATURES: * SIZE: This great sized bowl Measures about 14" Inches Wide, including the handles, and is about 6.75" Inches Tall. * This is a really impressive CENTER BOWL - ( NOT a tureen without its lid that could be used as a center bowl). This piece was made to be a Center Bowl, as can be seen from the lovely fluted edge, not made to host a lid. * COLOR: The Ironstone is a pristine white! NO yellowing! A fantastic quality glaze and careful handling has preserved this piece beautifully! * TRANSFER DECORATION: Gorgeous, romatic scene of ruins draped in vines and flowers! Deep chocolate browns. Decorated on Both Sides and on the handles and foot rim. * Love the fancy HANDLES! Just too pretty to describe! I nearly jumped right over my husband when he pointed to it in one of our favorite Maine antique shops! It's definitely a favorite, RARE and beautiful! All Sales Final.
