Antique Telegraph Resonator Sounder & Double Pivoting Arm Up for auction is an Antique Bunnell Morse Code Telegraph Resonator / Sounder. This piece was purchased (along with 2 railroad telephones currently listed in seperate auctions) from a gentleman who's grandfather worked for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad. This railway ran a short line in Canada from Windsor to Chatham Ontario. This device is made up of a railway telegraph resonator, a brass and wood sounder, and a double pivoting arm and base unit made of heavy cast iron. The triangular wooden resonator is marked with a small metal plate that says Bunnell, New York. It measures approximately 7 3/4" by 6.5" by 5". The wood has its original finish with good patina. One screw that mounts the brass telegraph sounder to the triangular resonator is missing. Even without the screw, the sounder is securely fastened to the wooden box. The cast iron arms are both marked with: WHITE CO WORCESTER MASS. When both mounting arms are fully extended, it measures 16 1/2" long from the centerlines of both mounting points. The desk mounting piece has a height of 6". Overall this piece is in excellent / as found condition. An amazing railroad collectible!
